(July 12, 2024) Hartford, OH – Bobby Pierce continued his winning streak by securing his seventh World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models Feature win of 2024 at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH. The reigning series champion overcame an early setback to dominate the 40-lap race.
Early Setback and Recovery
Pierce started the race from the pole but slipped back to fourth after missing his mark in Turn 1, allowing Ryan Gustin to take the early lead. Despite this, Pierce methodically worked his way back, overtaking Cade Dillard for third and Nick Hoffman for second.
Key Moment
Gustin, who had built a three-second lead, was caught behind lapped traffic, allowing Pierce to close the gap. At the halfway point, Pierce executed a slide job through Turns 3 and 4 to take the lead. Once in front, he never looked back, navigating through traffic to extend his lead and secure his third consecutive series win in July.
“The start was sketchy and had me a little nervous,” Pierce admitted. “But we finally got going and started digging. Once I slid Gustin and got clear off Turn 4, I got that clean air, and then it felt bad in the last 10 laps. This place gets really slick and super icy, so it was tricky. The car was great.”
Competitors’ Efforts
Cade Dillard
Dillard finished second after a strong run, highlighting the performance of his car amidst recent challenges. “We had a really good car. Obviously, Bobby has been lights out, so to run second to him is good for us. Hopefully, we can do better tomorrow night, but I’ll take a podium finish all night long,” Dillard said.
Ryan Gustin
Gustin secured a podium spot despite losing momentum after Pierce took the lead. “We missed it a little bit on the setup. It is what it is. It’s what these two-day shows are like. If you don’t win the first night, you learn from it and go on to the next one,” Gustin remarked.
