(July 8, 2024) Lincoln, IL – Bobby Pierce from Oakwood, Illinois, overtook Jason Feger early on and maintained the lead for the final 38 laps of the 50-lap race. His victory at Lincoln Speedway in the Castrol FloRacing Night in America event earned him a substantial $20,000 prize. This win follows his recent success at the Gopher 50 in Minnesota.
All-Illinois Podium
Brandon Sheppard of Berlin, Illinois, continued his streak of strong performances, finishing in second place, 5.276 seconds behind Pierce. Sheppard’s consistency is notable, echoing his runner-up finish from the Gopher 50 at Deer Creek Speedway.
Bloomington’s Jason Feger led the race for the initial 12 laps but was eventually overtaken by Pierce. Despite a strong start, Feger finished in third place, trailing Pierce by over eight seconds.
Ricky Thornton Jr.’s Remarkable Recovery
Ricky Thornton Jr. from Chandler, Arizona, made a significant comeback, starting from the 20th position and finishing seventh. This performance was particularly impressive given that Thornton had just switched teams, driving Steve Sheppard’s No. 5s Longhorn Chassis after parting ways with SSI Motorsports.
Race Highlights and Challenges
The race saw two cautions: the first on the opening lap due to a collision involving Brenden Smith and Bob Sidener, and the second on lap eight for Tyler Erb’s flat tire. Despite these interruptions, the race concluded with 19 drivers still on track, seven of whom finished on the lead lap.
