(April 19, 2024) Ardmore, OK – In a thrilling display of skill and perseverance, Brad Sweet secured his first-ever win with Kubota High Limit Racing at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, marking a significant milestone in his racing career.
Dubbed “The Big Cat,” Sweet’s journey to victory began from the third position in the 30-lap A-Main event. Initially trailing pole sitter Spencer Bayston for the opening laps, Sweet seized an opportunity on Lap 6 following a restart, surging into the lead. From there, he expertly navigated through lap traffic and successfully weathered a green-white-checkered finish to claim the $12,000 prize.
Despite Sweet’s triumphant performance, championship leader Tyler Courtney showcased his resilience by charging from 12th to 2nd place aboard the Clauson-Marshall Racing, NOS Energy Drink #7BC car. Courtney’s impressive feat allowed him to maintain his points lead over Sweet as they head to Salina Highbanks Speedway.
Spencer Bayston, after setting a new track record in Capitol Renegade Qualifying and securing pole position with an FK Rod Ends Dash victory, clinched his first podium finish of the season with a third-place finish. This achievement propels him back into the coveted fifth position in the High Stakes Charter standings.
The top-five was rounded out by Brent Marks and Corey Day, with notable performances from Rico Abreu, Tanner Thorson, and James McFadden among others.
Throughout the event, several drivers distinguished themselves in various categories, including Spencer Bayston’s Capitol Custom Trailers QuickTime and Tyler Courtney’s Hard Charger award for his remarkable ascent through the field.
Looking ahead, Kubota High Limit Racing will conclude its Oklahoma swing with a highly anticipated event at Salina Highbanks Speedway. With a lucrative $12,000-to-win prize on the line, fans can expect another exhilarating showcase of talent and speed at the high-banked oval.
