Cannon McIntosh Secures Fourth Win of the Season at Doe Run Raceway

(May 30, 2024) Doe Run, MO – Cannon McIntosh and the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports (KKM) team are hitting their stride as the season progresses. McIntosh, 21, from Bixby, OK, captured his fourth Feature win of the season with the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series presented by Toyota at Doe Run Raceway on Thursday night. He took the lead from Michael Pickens early in the race and never looked back, securing his ninth career Series victory and second consecutive win following his triumph at Atomic Speedway.

Championship Momentum

This victory extends McIntosh’s lead in the championship standings to 154 points over his KKM teammate Ryan Timms. With 13 of the 30 scheduled races complete, McIntosh boasts a perfect record of top-five finishes this season, including ten podium placements. The event was also part of the POWRi National Midget League, marking McIntosh’s second career win in the Xtreme Outlaw-POWRi Challenge Series.

“I think it’s just Keith and I’s relationship, when it comes to the racecars, is just getting better and better with every race,” McIntosh said. “As good as we looked tonight, I feel like we keep getting better and better every race.”

Early Lead and Dominance

When the green flag dropped, McIntosh quickly moved up the field, overtaking Tyler Edwards for second on Lap 3 and setting his sights on leader Pickens. After a caution on Lap 4, McIntosh executed a series of slide jobs to take the lead from Pickens by Lap 5, holding the position for the remainder of the race.

“Pickens was, obviously, a little bit harder to do; he had more momentum built up,” McIntosh said. “But, I was able to eventually just build enough momentum to get by him there. I know it was probably a close slider, but no contact, which is always a good thing.”

Maintaining the Lead

McIntosh extended his lead throughout the race, opening up a gap as large as three seconds in lapped traffic. Zach Daum, starting seventh, climbed to second place by Lap 11 but couldn’t catch McIntosh. A rear-end component failure with two laps remaining forced Daum out of the race, allowing Pickens to finish second.

The Xtreme Outlaw and POWRi Midgets next head to Coles County Speedway in Mattoon, IL, on Friday, May 31. Tickets will be on sale at the gate. If you can’t be at the track, stream every lap live on DIRTVision.
