(June 23, 2024) Lincoln, IL – Before this week, Cole Falloway was still chasing his first career DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Feature win. By the time the checkered flag waved on Sunday at Lincoln Speedway, he had secured not just his first, but his second victory.
Falloway’s breakthrough came on Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55, and he quickly followed it up with another win, demonstrating impressive skill and determination. The Kentucky native led all 25 laps of the Feature, holding off 2023 Summit Modified champion Tyler Nicely.
“It definitely helps when you knock a couple off,” Falloway said. “It’s so hard on this deal. There’s a lot of good cars and as long as you can qualify and win the Heat Race and put yourself in the redraw it makes your night a lot easier.”
Dominating the Race
At the drop of the green flag, Falloway took the lead on the first lap, using the momentum from the outside of the track. He expertly handled three restarts within the first 10 laps, maintaining his position each time. Despite the challenges, Falloway kept his cool, staying ahead of Nicely, who was right on his tail.
Nicely pressured Falloway throughout the race, but Falloway managed to navigate through lapped traffic and survive one final restart to secure his second consecutive win.
Mutual Respect Among Competitors
“It means a lot,” Falloway said of beating Nicely. “Me and Tyler race together a lot. He helps me a ton. Whenever he broke last night, he was the first one over helping me before we went out making some changes. It means a lot just to be able to run with him. He’s obviously one of the best to do it in Modifieds.”
Looking Ahead
The DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals will take a break on Monday and Tuesday, resuming action on Wednesday, June 26, at Tri-City Speedway. Tickets will be available at the gate, and for those unable to attend in person, every lap will be streamed live on DIRTVision.
