(June 22, 2024) Algers, WA – Corey Day made a mark in the racing world by winning the Super Dirt Cup Finale at Skagit Speedway, earning a $62,000 payday after dominating the 40-lap event. Day’s performance in the Jason Meyers Racing Sanders Engineering #14 KPC sprint car led him to his 16th career NARC 410 Series victory and added a significant achievement to his racing resume.
A Historic Win
Day’s victory holds special significance as he joins his father in the record books, creating the first father-son duo to win the Super Dirt Cup. His father won the race in 2000, and with lap money included, Day’s total earnings reached $79,600.
Race Highlights
Zeb Wise started strong in the Rudeen Racing #26R, setting the pace and being chased by Justin Sanders, Day, Cole Macedo, and the rest of the 26-car field. Day, who began in third, quickly passed Sanders on the second lap and set his sights on Wise. A caution on lap eight regrouped the field, leading to an intense four-lap battle for the lead. Day took the lead on lap 12 and expertly navigated through lap traffic to maintain his position, eventually winning by a 2.961-second margin.
Wise, after losing the lead, engaged in a heated battle with Cole Macedo and Jason Solwold for the second position. Wise ultimately secured the runner-up spot, marking his second consecutive second-place finish at the Super Dirt Cup. Macedo, the NARC point leader, completed the podium in third place.
“This is unbelievable; I’ve been here three years now; I felt like we had a shot in 2022 and last year but just didn’t put it together,” said Day. “It feels so good to put this one together, and I owe it all to Shane (Bowers, crew chief) for a badass race car all night, all weekend, and a badass race track from the Skagit track crew, and to Kevin Rudeen for putting this whole event on. It’s awesome to be racing for this much money on the West Coast.”
