Today’s driver spotlight comes from Farmington, MO. He drives a B Modified. Please let me introduce, Camden Johnston.
Camden Johnston is a 15-year-old freshman in high school who has been racing since the young age of six. He started with go-kart racing and advanced to B-Mods at the age of 13. His passion for racing is evident in his determination to become a professional racecar driver and in his plan to travel the country racing late models in five years.
Camden’s love for racing and determination to succeed are accompanied by other hobbies and interests such as fishing and riding four-wheelers. However, although he cherishes these activities, racing is his true passion. After competing in B-Mods last season and gaining third place in points, he took the decision to take a year off to regroup and come back stronger next year with a late model. Although taking a break from the sport is never easy, Camden sees it as an opportunity to learn from other drivers and improve his racing skills.
Camden faces a challenge not only with the sport itself but also with the perception of his age. Some people doubt his driving ability because of his age. However, his experience in winning the Rookie of the Year last year at Doe Run Raceway and securing the third-place in points in the B-Mod class proved otherwise. The young driver has a message to anyone who is facing age discrimination – do not let anyone doubt your ability to drive.
Camden’s father is an inspiration in his racing journey, and he hopes to follow in his footsteps to become a professional racecar driver just like him. He has been around the sport his entire life, having been born in North Carolina and now residing in Farmington, MO.
In summary, Camden Johnston is a 15-year-old freshman in high school who has shown his passion for racing and his determination to succeed despite his age. He plans to become a professional racecar driver, travel the country racing late models, and prove once again that age should never be a barrier to success. He is truly excited about his current journey in racing and whatever it holds in the future.
