Carl Stanley Kilgore’s passion for racing began at the tender age of 11, rooted deeply in his upbringing in Greenville, Mississippi. Surrounded by the sights and sounds of racing and cars, Carl’s enthusiasm for the sport was nurtured by the influence of his father and uncles, who were also racers. Growing up, he not only immersed himself in the world of racing but also played baseball, balancing his two loves with remarkable dedication. Greenville Speedway, known for its challenging nature and reputation as a driver’s track, became the proving ground where he honed his racing skills, and he takes great pride in his association with this iconic track.
At 23, Carl Stanley now devotes himself entirely to racing, a passion that has only intensified since his baseball days ended. Working at the family glass shop and assisting with customer racecars, he is also venturing into the wrap business, demonstrating his multifaceted involvement in the racing industry. He recalls the countless times his father would transport his racecar to the track while he and his mother were away for baseball tournaments, rushing back to ensure he could participate in both activities. These experiences, juggling baseball and racing, shaped his dedication and commitment to his dreams.
Carl Stanley envisions a future where he races competitively in a super late model within the next five years. He acknowledges that there is still much to learn and achieve before reaching that goal, but his determination is unwavering. While he does not have a particular favorite movie, he mentions “Days of Thunder” as a standout choice, reflecting his deep connection to the racing world. Outside of racing, his hobbies include spending quality time with his family and girlfriend, as well as participating in virtual racing on iRacing.
Currently, he primarily competes in the Street Stock class, but he has plans to race the super late model more frequently at Greenville Speedway. Additionally, he has been fortunate to race the 602 Sportsman late model, thanks to the generous support of the Harpers. Carl aspires to inspire young racers, emphasizing the importance of respect and consideration for others in the racing community.
Carl’s journey in racing would not have been possible without the unwavering support of his family. He expresses deep gratitude to his mother, Charity Kilgore, his father, Carl Kilgore, his grandfather, Butch, his uncle Bryan and aunt Jennifer, his uncle William, and many others who have stood by him. Their belief in his potential and passion has been a driving force in his racing career.
Moreover, Carl Stanley extends his thanks to the continuous support from the family business, Elite Glass, and other sponsors who have played a crucial role in his racing endeavors: Jason Smith with Lee’s Body Shop, Chad and Misty McAlpin with the Mize Hamburger House and 28 Diner, Reggie and Hayden Chavers with CWC Mechanical, Robert Smith with S&S Farms of Leland, Ashley Newman Motorsports Services, Wesley Washington with Washington Body Shop, and all past and future sponsors have trusted Carl to represent them on and off the track. Their support and belief in him have been instrumental in his journey.
Carl Stanley Kilgore’s story is a testament to passion, perseverance, and the importance of a supportive community. As he continues to race and strive for greater heights, he hopes to inspire the next generation of racers to pursue their dreams with the same dedication and respect for others that have defined his own journey.
