Dirt Track Chronicles: Paul Haynes, Jr.

Paul Haynes, a 29-year-old racing enthusiast from Indianola, MS, has always had a need for speed. At the young age of 14, he began his journey into the world of racing, fueled by a desire to experience the thrill of high speeds. Working for Traf-Mark Industries, where he paints the lines on highways, Paul finds a balance between his professional life and his passion for racing.

Looking ahead, Paul envisions himself married and still living life in the fast lane in five years. As for the next decade, he humorously hopes to avoid being “in the ground,” highlighting his lighthearted nature. When not behind the wheel of a race car, Paul enjoys hunting, fishing, and capturing moments through photography, showcasing his love for the outdoors and adventure.

Although Paul has sold his car for now, he plans to get back on the track and continue racing in the Hot Shots class. Inspired by his brother, Matt Tharp, and his son, Braiden Haynes, Paul finds motivation in his family to pursue his racing dreams.

With a favorite movie being “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and a mantra to not be a “dumbass in life,” Paul’s down-to-earth personality shines through. Residing in Paragould, AR, Paul’s plans for the upcoming race season include getting back into a car, exploring new horizons, and soaking in the experiences that come with traveling the world.
