(April 26, 2024) Fulton, NY – The Empire Super Sprints roared to life first the first time in 2024 at Fulton Speedway for night 1 of the Strada Mia Italian Steakhouse Highbank Holdup.
In qualifying, Danny Varin set the pace in group 1, Jordan Thomas led the charge in group 2, Jonathan Preston topped group 3, and Jason Barney commanded group 4.
As the heats heated up, Matt Tanner claimed victory in heat 1, despite group fast time setter Danny Varin’s impressive 3rd place finish, with Larry Wight closely following in 2nd.
Heat 2 saw Davie Franek storming to the front from the 4th starting spot, while Jordan Thomas, the fast time setter for group 2, secured a runner-up position, and Billy VanInwegen Jr staged a remarkable climb from 9th to clinch 3rd.
Dylan Swiernik emerged victorious in heat 3, with Chad Phelps and Aaron Turkey rounding out the top 3.
Kelly Hebing triumphed in heat 4, joined by Jordan Poirier and Jason Barney in the top 3.
With the stage set for the main event, Davie Franek claimed the pole position after a redraw, setting the tone for the thrilling finale. Mark Smith showcased his prowess by winning B-Main 1 from the outside front row, with Dalton Rombough finishing as the runner-up from the pole position.
In the feature, Jason Barney emerged triumphant, rocketing to victory from his seventh starting position in the Empire Super Sprint Season Opener at Fulton Speedway. Jordan Poirier and Larry Wight joined him on the Ashley Lynn Winery Podium, with Dylan Swiernik making an impressive climb of 7 spots to secure 4th place. Notably, Nick Sheridan also showcased his skill, advancing an astonishing 10 spots to claim 10th place.
Despite a promising start, it was a tough break for Chad Phelps, who, after starting 2nd, faced challenges, and ultimately finished in 16th place.
