Logan Seavey Scores Night 1 of the Bill Gardner Sprintacular at Lincoln Park

(July 5, 2024) Putnamville, IN – Logan Seavey faced a challenging moment during the 10th Annual Bill Gardner Sprintacular opener at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Indiana. Leading the race 13 laps into the 30-lap main event, Seavey had to avoid two spinning cars directly in front of him. Despite significant contact, he persevered to claim his ninth victory of the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship season.

Seavey, driving the Abacus Racing/MPV Express – CG CPAs – Indy Custom Stone/DRC/Stanton Chevy, set the pace early by recording the fastest qualifying time. He then proceeded to win the feature event, marking his 19th career victory in the USAC National Sprint Car series and his first at Lincoln Park Speedway.

Overcoming Obstacles

Starting sixth on the grid, Seavey quickly moved up to third on the first lap. He overtook Robert Ballou for second place on lap three and then passed Mitchel Moles for the lead. However, a near collision with Rylan Gray’s spinning car on lap 13 almost ended his race. Seavey’s car made contact, but he managed to continue without significant damage.

“I thought I broke my front end and my race might be over,” Seavey said. “My steering wheel was crooked, and I had to adjust some things in the car. Luckily, it held together.”

On a subsequent restart, a collision involving Justin Grant, Carson Garrett, and Brady Bacon caused Grant to fall back, eventually finishing 17th. Seavey, meanwhile, fended off challenges from Ballou, who briefly pulled alongside him before Seavey switched to the low line to secure his lead.

Seavey’s Strategic Moves

Seavey’s ability to adapt and change lines was crucial. “My car was really good on the cushion early, but it was getting slick out of turn two,” Seavey noted. “I knew it was time to move down. Changing lines when you’re leading is tricky, but I found a good rhythm.”

Seavey’s consistent performance helped him maintain his lead, eventually winning by 0.806 seconds ahead of Ballou, with Moles finishing third.

For the second straight race, Robert Ballou finished on the podium, taking second place. Mitchel Moles led the first three laps and finished third, marking his eighth consecutive top-six finish.

Kevin Thomas Jr. advanced from 18th to 10th, earning hard charger honors, while Chase Stockon made a late comeback to secure a spot in the feature.
