(April 6, 2024) Tuscumbia, AL – Ohio’s Max Stambaugh showcased his racing prowess on Saturday night, securing victory in the ASCS Hurricane Area Super Sprints at North Alabama Speedway, improving his finish from Friday by two spots.
It marked Stambaugh’s inaugural win with the ASCS Hurricane Area Super Sprints series, and he did so in dramatic fashion. Throughout the first half of the feature race, Stambaugh relentlessly pursued Dale Howard of Mississippi. Capitalizing on a moment of traffic just beyond the race’s midpoint, Stambaugh seized his opportunity, maneuvering to the top spot on Lap 16 by taking the high line through turns three and four.
Once in the lead, Stambaugh maintained his position, ultimately crossing the finish line with a commanding 2.526-second advantage.
Behind him, a family duel ensued for the runner-up spot, with Jan Howard overtaking the position on Lap 18. Dale Howard settled for third, followed by Brad Bowden in fourth. Notably, Lane Whittington made an impressive climb through the field, advancing seven positions to secure fifth place.
Hank Davis of Oklahoma, who had spun out earlier in the race, staged a remarkable comeback from the tail to claim sixth place. Brandon Blenden, Zach Pringle, Chase Howard, and Josh McCord rounded out the top ten.
The ASCS Hurricane Area Super Sprints will resume action on Saturday, April 13 at Baton Rouge Raceway.
