(March 30, 2024) Wichita, KS – Despite his limited experience at 81 Speedway in Kansas, Rico Abreu continues to prove his mastery of the track’s 3/8-mile layout. In two appearances with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars at the venue, Abreu has emerged victorious both times. Last year, he led every lap of the Feature event, and this year, he repeated that feat, leading all 30 circuits to secure another triumph.
Abreu’s latest win at 81 Speedway holds particular significance, as it marked the ninth different winner in the first nine races of the 2024 World of Outlaws season. His victory contributed to unprecedented parity in the series, reflecting the tireless efforts of Abreu and his team both on and off the track.
Reflecting on his back-to-back wins at 81 Speedway, Abreu emphasized the importance of teamwork and dedication. He commended the track crew for their efforts in providing optimal racing conditions and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete in such an exciting event.
With this victory, Abreu adds to his impressive career tally of World of Outlaws checkered flags, now totaling 16 wins. He joins a select group of drivers, including Sammy Swindell and Donny Schatz, as multi-time winners at 81 Speedway.
The race itself showcased Abreu’s skill and determination as he fended off challenges from fellow competitors throughout the event. Despite early pressure and multiple restarts, Abreu maintained control of the race, ultimately crossing the finish line with a comfortable lead.
David Gravel and Donny Schatz rounded out the podium, highlighting the fierce competition among the top drivers in the series. Gravel’s last-lap pass secured him the runner-up spot, while Schatz continued his consistent performance with another podium finish.
As the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars head to Missouri for their next event, fans can expect more thrilling action and intense competition. With each race bringing new challenges and opportunities, the 2024 season promises to be one of the most exciting yet for Sprint Car enthusiasts.
For those unable to attend the races in person, every lap can be enjoyed live on DIRTVision, ensuring that fans don’t miss a moment of the excitement.
