(May 24, 2024) Chillicothe, OH – Winning a national Midget series race requires a mix of speed, skill, and good fortune. Ryan Timms demonstrated all three Friday night at Atomic Speedway, securing his second feature win of the year in the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series presented by Toyota. Starting from the third position, Timms navigated past his teammates, Jade Avedisian and Kale Drake, to clinch victory.
Overcoming Obstacles
Timms faced significant challenges, particularly a late-race right-rear flat tire for Drake. This incident on a restart opened the door for Timms to take the lead. He held off all contenders on the final restart, earning his third career series victory and a $4,000 prize. Timms joins an elite group of drivers this year, including Cannon McIntosh, Ashton Torgerson, and Karter Sarff, who have won more than once.
Early Race Dynamics
Avedisian, starting from pole position, led the initial 11 laps with Drake and Timms close behind. The race dynamics changed on lap 12 when Avedisian encountered lapped traffic, slowing down and allowing Drake to take the lead. Timms capitalized on this opportunity and moved into second place.
Key Race Moments
Drake’s lead was cut short due to a flat tire noticed by Timms during a caution period. Despite Timms’ attempts to warn Drake, the latter was forced to exit for repairs, handing the lead to Timms. Avedisian, despite a strong performance, couldn’t reclaim the lead, finishing second.
