What began as modest mid-pack performances steadily evolved into podium finishes, hinting at Ashton Torgerson’s imminent breakthrough. Following a commendable second-place finish at Farmer City Raceway, the 17-year-old rookie sensation from Glendale, AZ, showcased his exceptional talent on a memorable night.
With determination etched in his every move, Torgerson claimed the coveted pole position and led all but one lap, securing his very first Feature win with the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series presented by Toyota. It was a defining moment for the young driver, validating his place among the sport’s elite and igniting a newfound sense of confidence.
Not only did Torgerson etch his name in the winner’s circle, but he also contributed to the series’ streak of diverse victors, becoming the sixth different winner in as many races. This victory also marked his second triumph of the year in collaboration with the POWRi National Midget League, further solidifying his status as a rising star in the racing world.
In the aftermath of his monumental win, Torgerson was quick to credit his team, particularly Keith Kunz Motorsports (KKM), where he joined as a driver earlier in the year. While his journey began with Tanner Thorson Racing last May, it was his time with KKM that proved pivotal in his development as a driver.
Despite Torgerson’s commanding lead, Cannon McIntosh pushed relentlessly, ultimately securing a well-deserved second-place finish ahead of Ryan Timms. McIntosh’s performance not only showcased his skill but also widened his points lead over Timms by a significant margin of 27 points.
