(June 15, 2024) Fairbury, IL – Trevor Neville set out this season with a bold promise to his team: “Boys, we’re not going to stop until we win this year.” He fulfilled that promise on Saturday night at Fairbury Speedway, capturing his first career DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals victory.
Leading from the Start
The driver from Mackinaw, IL, dominated the 30-lap Feature race, leading every lap and holding off some of the top DIRTcar UMP Modified drivers in the country. Starting from the outside pole, Neville quickly took the lead from three-time and defending Fairbury UMP Modified track champion Michael Ledford and never looked back.
“I thought Michael was going to get the jump on me, but I managed to clear him,” Neville said. “Racing with Michael means a lot because we compete together often. I’m glad everything went smoothly and cleanly.”
Maintaining the Lead
Despite two caution periods that bunched up the field, Neville expertly handled the restarts, keeping Ledford at bay. Each time, he managed to pull ahead and fend off all challenges, securing his place at the front.
Neville’s victory celebration was full of emotion. He climbed atop his car in Victory Lane, waving the checkered flag and letting out a triumphant scream.
“We dedicate a lot of time to this, and it’s what my life revolves around,” Neville said. “I hardly work during the week; all I do is racing. So, winning at a track where we haven’t always been the best means the world to me.”
