Daulton Wilson Dominates Inaugural Doug Walls Memorial, claims $10,000 at Ultimate Motorsports Park

(March 29, 2024) Elkin, NC – Hailing from Fayetteville, N.C., Daulton Wilson seized victory in Friday’s thrilling inaugural Doug Walls Memorial at Ultimate Motorsports Park, leading all 48 laps and securing the $10,000 paycheck. This marked Wilson’s second feature win of the 2024 season and his second career triumph in the Mid-East Super Late Model Series, following his triumph at last fall’s Halloween special at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C.

Wilson’s previous victory this season was a historic win, marking his first-ever Lucas Oil Series victory on Feb. 10 at Florida’s East Bay Raceway Park. The competition was fierce, with fifth-starting Ben Watkins hot on Wilson’s tail, trailing by just 1.631 seconds at the finish line. Dirt Late Model veteran Casey Roberts made an impressive showing, starting and finishing third, while pole-sitter Carson Ferguson fought back to claim fourth place.

The event paid tribute to Charles “Doug” Walls, the father of Jason Walls, owner, and founder of the Mid-East Racing Association, adding a poignant touch to the evening’s proceedings. The race also saw Gunner Frank clinch victory in the $500 non-qualifier race, adding another layer of excitement to the event.

Notable performances include Zack Mitchell’s impressive run, starting 22nd and finishing eighth, and Ethan Wilson, Daulton’s brother, making a rare start and rounding out the top 10.

Wilson’s winning ride, a Justin Rattliff Racing Longhorn Chassis powered by a Clements Racing Engine, is proudly sponsored by a host of supporters including Grant Lee Farms, ICS, MGL Auto Sales, and many others.

The event boasted a strong turnout with 43 cars in the lineup. Carson Ferguson clinched the fast qualifier and pole-sitter positions, with Casey Roberts, Daulton Wilson, and Cla Knight claiming the remaining heat race wins.

The next series race is set for May 26 at Fayetteville Motor Speedway in Fayetteville, NC, promising another intense battle for a $10,000 prize.
