(April 6, 2024) Brownstown, IN – In a commanding performance, Dennis Erb Jr. from Carpentersville, Ill., led from start to finish to claim victory in Saturday’s $5,000 second annual Ira Bastin Memorial at Brownstown Speedway. Erb’s impressive win marked his 27th career Northern Allstars Late Model Series feature victory, inching him one step closer to Don O’Neal’s record on the Midwestern tour’s all-time wins list.

Reflecting on his triumph, Erb expressed, “We had a good race car here tonight. The race track was in great condition for all the weather that we’ve been having. (NALMS) is a great series, we ran it a long time ago, and to be able to pick up these races all throughout the weekend and that, it’s just a good series to run. We were real happy with it back in the day, and hopefully, it will continue to get bigger.”

Jason Jameson secured second place after starting sixth, while Tanner English rounded out the podium from the eighth starting position. Michael Chilton faced disappointment after being pushed to the pit area during a lap-19 caution, relegating him to 19th place in the rundown.

The event, honoring the late Ira Bastin, a three-time Brownstown track champion and winner of 40 feature events, saw 38 cars compete in the memorial race. Brownstown Speedway paid tribute to Bastin, who passed away on January 18, 2023, at the age of 82.

Cody Mahoney made an impressive move from 14th to finish sixth, showcasing his skill and determination on the track.

Erb’s winning Rocket Chassis, powered by a Clements Racing Engine, is supported by sponsors including J.R. McBride Leasing, McBride Mack, and VolMac Truck Sales and Service.

In the points chase after Brownstown, Josh Rice and Jason Jameson are tied at the top with 390 points each, followed closely by Cody Mahoney with 366 points.

The next series race is scheduled for May 17 at Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis, IN, offering a $10,000 payday.
