(April 5, 2024) Osborn, MO – In Sprint Car Racing, a little luck can go a long way. David Gravel capitalized on Sheldon Haudenschild’s misfortune to claim his second World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car win of 2024 at US 36 Raceway. Haudenschild’s early lead came to an abrupt end when an incident with a lapped car sent him spinning, opening the door for Gravel to seize the lead and never look back.
Gravel’s victory marked a significant milestone in his career, earning him his 90th win with The Greatest Show on Dirt. It also showcased the resilience of his team, Big Game Motorsports, as they bounced back from a disappointing result at US 36 Raceway the previous year.
Reflecting on his win, Gravel acknowledged the role of luck in racing and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to capitalize on the situation. Despite slipping to seventh early in the race, a timely red flag gave him a second chance to make a strong start, which he seized with determination.
The race saw Gravel masterfully navigate the challenges posed by both the track and his competitors. Despite the pressure from Donny Schatz in the closing laps, Gravel maintained his composure and held onto the lead, ultimately crossing the finish line with a comfortable margin.
With this victory, Gravel extends his lead in the championship standings, demonstrating his consistency and determination to secure his first World of Outlaws title. He remains focused on maintaining his momentum and continuing to perform at a high level throughout the season.
Schatz brought home a solid second-place finish, while Michael “Buddy” Kofoid completed the podium, marking his best result of the season so far.
The series moves to Arrowhead Speedway tomorrow night. For those unable to attend the races in person, every lap can be enjoyed live on DIRTVision, ensuring that fans don’t miss a moment of the excitement and drama on the track.
