Riggins Sweeps USCS Carlina Weekend with Cherokee Victory

(April 6, 2024) Gaffney, SC – Eric Riggins Jr. of Charlotte, NC, continued his impressive streak by securing his second consecutive United Sprint Car Series (USCS) presented by K&N Filters victory on Saturday night at Cherokee Speedway. Riggins, who triumphed in the series’ race at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC, on Friday night, extended his dominance with another flawless performance.

Riggins’ victory marked his 22nd career win in the USCS, solidifying his status as one of the series’ most formidable competitors. Demonstrating his versatility and skill, Riggins achieved a “Clean Sweep” of the racing program for the second consecutive night, clinching victories in the 25-lap Feature Race, the six-lap Hoosier Speed Dash, and the eight-lap Butlerbuilt Racing Products Second Heat.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., the 2023 Daytona 500 Champion from Olive Branch, MS, once again finished as the runner-up to Riggins, showcasing his consistency and competitiveness throughout the weekend. Lance Moss and Johnny Bridges, both hailing from Cherryville, NC, secured third and fourth place respectively, with Ryan Roberts of Aurora, NE, rounding out the top five.

Additional standout performances included Ricky Peterson of Rawson, OH, who finished sixth, and National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductees Danny Smith of Chillicothe, OH, and Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN, who finished seventh and eighth respectively.

The Wilwood Brakes Hard Charger Award went to Luke Hill of Odessa, FL, who started 15th and worked his way up to a tenth-place finish.

In preliminary action, Stenhouse claimed victory in the eight-lap Engler Machine & Tool First Heat Race, while C.J. Miller of Mooresville, NC, emerged victorious in the eight-lap Racing Electronics Third Heat Race.
