Jim Chisholm Prevails at Arrowhead Speedway in USMTS Spring Salute

(April 19, 2024) Colcord, OK – The Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt brought an exhilarating night of racing to Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord, OK, for the ARMI Contractors USMTS Spring Salute, marking the fifth showdown of the year in the ARMI Contractors South Region presented by Gene Nicholas, LLC.

The action-packed evening commenced with Oklahoma native Gary Christian seizing the lead from the Sybesma Graphics Pole. However, an early-race incident in turn two prompted the Gorsuch Performance Caution Flag, momentarily halting proceedings as competitors made pit stops at the Danny Crane Racing Engines Hot Pity for repairs.

Following the restart, a fierce battle ensued between Christian, Jim Chisholm of Osage, Iowa, and Grant Junghans USMTS Rookie of the Year contender Jacob Hobscheidt from Plattsmouth, Neb. Amidst relentless competition and drivers utilizing every inch of the state-of-the-art speed palace, Christian and Chisholm emerged as the frontrunners, pulling away from the pack.

As Christian defended his position utilizing the middle and high lines, Chisholm strategically maneuvered along the bottom, gradually closing in on the leader. Eventually, Chisholm surged ahead on the 16th lap, with Christian succumbing to the outside concrete wall shortly after.

With the field reshuffled, Chisholm maintained his lead while Tyler Wolff surged into contention, thrilling spectators with a daring challenge for the top spot. Despite Wolff’s valiant effort, Chisholm remained unfazed, securing his position at the front and crossing the finish line with a commanding 3.708-second lead over Terry Phillips.

In Victory Fuel Victory Lane, Chisholm reflected on his journey, expressing gratitude for the valuable lessons learned during his full-time racing endeavors in 2023. Despite occasional setbacks, Chisholm’s determination and the exceptional performance of his car propelled him to victory, earning him a $5,000 paycheck and marking his seventh career win in the USMTS.

The podium was completed by Jake O’Neil, who delivered a remarkable third-place finish after starting from 19th position, showcasing his resilience and skill on the track. Dan Ebert and Tyler Wolff rounded out the top five, further adding to the intensity of the competition.

As the night concluded, anticipation mounted for the 9th Annual USMTS Juggernaut at Tri-State Speedway, promising another thrilling display of talent and speed.

For fans unable to attend in person, the action will be broadcast live on DIRTVision, ensuring that enthusiasts worldwide can experience the excitement of USMTS racing firsthand.
