(April 20, 2024) Salina, OK – After a nail-biting wait of 10 races to secure his inaugural victory with Kubota High Limit Racing, Brad Sweet wasted no time in seizing his second taste of triumph within the series.
Dubbed “The Big Cat,” Sweet roared into action on Friday night at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, clinching a victory, and repeated his success just 24 hours later at Salina Highbanks Speedway, securing back-to-back wins.
The Kasey Kahne Racing, NAPA Auto Parts #49 machine, piloted by Sweet, commenced the race from the outside pole, while Australian driver James McFadden led the pack to the green flag in the Roth Motorsports, Mobil1 #83 entry.
McFadden controlled the race’s initial eight laps before Sweet, mounted pressure, ultimately snatching the lead on Lap 9. However, the race’s most dramatic moment unfolded on Lap 11 when Sweet and McFadden tangled in turns three and four, resulting in McFadden’s car vaulting through the air and over the banking, leading to his unfortunate early exit from the race, marking his first finish outside the top-10 this season as a DNF.
Undeterred by the incident, Sweet maintained control of the #49, cruising until a late caution on the final lap necessitated another green-white-checkered restart, leaving him vulnerable. Brent Marks made a last-ditch effort to overtake Sweet on the final lap but fell short, allowing Sweet to sail to victory as he crossed the checkered flag.
Marks settled for second place, marking his second runner-up finish of the year as he continues his pursuit of his maiden win with Kubota High Limit Racing. The Murray-Marks #19 car remains flawless in top-10 finishes, boasting a perfect nine-for-nine record with the series this season, mirroring the success of the KKR #49.
Meanwhile, Rico Abreu celebrated his first podium finish of the year with Kubota High Limit Racing, clinching third place and accruing valuable points as he eyes a High Stakes Charter position.
Jacob Allen secured fourth place, while Tyler Courtney once again showcased his prowess with a remarkable Hard Charger performance, surging from 20th to fifth place in the Clauson-Marshall Racing, NOS Energy Drink #7BC machine, maintaining his lead atop the championship standings.
Zeb Wise, Justin Peck, Corey Day, Brian Brown, and Cory Eliason completed the top-10 finishers at Salina on Saturday, capping off a thrilling weekend of World of Outlaws racing action.
