Max Stambaugh Triumphs in USCS/GLSS Sprint Car Showdown at I-75 Raceway

(April 26, 2024) Sweetwater, TN – Max Stambaugh, hailing from Lima, OH, showcased his dominance with a flag-to-flag victory in the United Sprint Car Series Presented By K&N Filters 25-lap Feature Race co-sanctioned by the Great Lakes Sprint Series on Friday night at I-75 Raceway. Stambaugh’s journey to victory lane was paved with determination and skill, starting from the sixth position, and maneuvering his way to an impressive win.

Despite starting sixth, Stambaugh displayed his speed and precision, finishing third in the Racing Electronics 3rd Heat Race. This solid performance earned him fifth in passing points and secured his spot in the six-lap Hoosier Racing Tires Speed Dash, where he drew the pole position and went on to claim victory, securing the K&N Filters Pole Position for the Main Event.

In a heated battle for the runner-up spot, Dustin Daggett of Portland, MI, emerged in second place, while Phil Gressman of Fremont, OH, settled for third. Liam Martin of Binbrook, ON, and Ryan Turner of Dunnville, ON, showcased their skills by finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, with Turner earning the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award after charging from the 14th starting position.

The top ten was rounded out by Hayden Martin of Olive Branch, MS, in sixth, followed by Corbin Gurley of Hebron, IN, in seventh, and Chase Dunham of Leipsic, OH, in eighth. The defending USCS National Champion, Terry Gray, drove to a respectable ninth-place finish, with Devin Dobie of Wapakoneta, OH, completing the top ten.

Preliminary action saw Hayden Martin, Dustin Daggett, and Alex Lyles of Arlington, TN, emerging victorious in the three eight-lap Heat Races, setting the stage for an intense Main Event.

As the 22-car field took the green flag for the 25-lap Main Event, Stambaugh wasted no time asserting his dominance, taking the lead in turn one and maintaining his position throughout the race. Despite challenges and two red flags, Stambaugh kept his composure, steadily increasing his lead and ultimately crossing the finish line with a 2.482-second margin of victory.
