(June 21, 2024) Putnamville, Indiana – It was a night to remember for Emerson Axsom and his Klasmeyer/Petry Motorsports team. A blistering 55 cars signed into the Lincoln Park Speedway thursday night to make on the Co-Sanctioned Maverick Winged Sprints & Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints event. You had talent anywhere from from full time High Limit drivers like, Jacob Allen, Chris Windom, & Brenham Crouch, to Wingless & Midgets standouts like Logan Seavey, Thomas Meseraull, & Brady Bacon all in the pit area trying to capture the $6,000 top prize.
If you thought the night was going to be full of fireworks, right out of the gate in qualifying, you were right as California’s Joel Myers Jr set a new track record with a time of 11.136!! After 6 action packed heat races witch saw winners: Brady Bacon, Ayrton Gennetten, Parker Price-Miller, Emerson Axsom, Brenham Crouch, & Chris Windom. Jake Blackhurst & Thomas Meseraull took victories in B-Main’s 1 & 2.
All set up the 30 lap A-Main event with Bacon and Gennetten on the front row. Going into turn 1 on the opening lap your pole sitter Brady Bacon finds a slick section in the track, looping the car around and bringing out a yellow. Aryton Gennetten after leading lap 1 was committed to the middle line but little did he know Axsom had found a best friend in the form of the cushion sailing by Gennetten in turn 4. After making lap traffic seem like light work, Emerson was looking to put it on cruise control however Gennetten & Chris Windom were going at right behind him and reeling in your race leader in the process. That was until however on lap 19 Darin Naida blew a right right rear tire bringing out the 2nd caution of the race. Once racing resumed Axsom pulled away with a clear racetrack while Windom & Gennetten continued their battle with Parker Price-Miller getting in on the action as well. Axsom looked to have it in the bag taking the white flag, coming into turn 3 looking for the checkered flag, Brady Bacon & JJ Hickle make contact right in front of your leader and get upside down bringing out the red flag. We now have a green-white-checkered finish on our hands. Axsom takes the green flag and Gennetten got a great restart, a drag race into turn 1 took place, & down the back straight, Axsom went low to protect but hit the holes entering the corner washing up the track handing Gennetten the lead at the white flag. Into 1 & 2 Genetten entered in the middle sliding up the track while Axsom railed the top and got back by down the back straightaway. Into 3 & 4 for the final time Gennetten sends a hail mary slide job but Axsom was able to turn it back underneath him and take his first career winged 410 feature win!!
