Cole Falloway Secures First Career Modified Nationals Win at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55

(June 22, 2024) Pevely, MO – After several seasons of coming close, Cole Falloway finally claimed his first DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Feature win on Saturday night at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55. The 21-year-old from Owensboro, KY, achieved this milestone after a series of strong performances, including three top-5 finishes this season and a third-place finish at Spoon River Speedway on Thursday.

A Hard-Fought Victory

Falloway engaged in a fierce battle with Treb Jacoby, who was also aiming for his first Summit Modified win. The two drivers swapped the lead multiple times in the race’s first half, but Falloway’s decisive slide job on Lap 20 secured his lead for the remainder of the race.

“I’ve been close a couple of times and never been able to get one,” Falloway said. “To finally get one at Pevely, where I’ve never run really great, feels good.”

The Race Breakdown

Starting from the front row, Falloway took the lead on the opening lap by utilizing the bottom of the track. Jacoby reclaimed the lead on Lap 5, running the high side before Falloway took it back a few laps later. The back-and-forth continued until Lap 19, when Falloway capitalized on Jacoby’s line switch to the bottom, allowing him to take the lead for good with a powerful move in Turns 3 and 4.

“I was kind of watching the laps just to see how much time I had,” Falloway explained. “[Jacoby] started trying to protect his position but was losing speed in the corners. I managed to diamond it perfectly behind him and committed to sliding in front of him.”

Week 2 of the Summit Modified Nationals concludes on Sunday, June 23, with a visit to Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, IL. The event will feature racing alongside the DIRTcar Summer Nationals Late Models.
