Nick Hoffman Shines at Brownstown Speedway, Wins Fourth Feature of 2024

(June 22, 2024) Brownstown, IN – Nick Hoffman reminded everyone of his championship potential in the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models series with a commanding performance at Brownstown Speedway on Saturday night. The Mooresville, NC driver tapped into his extensive experience at the 1/4-mile bullring, where he had previously secured two Summer Nationals Modified wins, to clinch his fourth Feature victory of the 2024 season.

A Well-Earned Victory

Starting from the outside of the front row, Hoffman had to navigate a competitive field. Rochester, MN rookie Dustin Sorensen initially took the lead, while Hoffman battled with Oakwood, IL driver Bobby Pierce for position. Despite struggling to find his groove early on, Hoffman capitalized on multiple cautions to close the gap on Sorensen.

With 18 laps remaining, Sorensen made a slight error coming off a corner, which Hoffman seized to take the lead. Managing lapped traffic with precision, Hoffman maintained his lead and secured his fifth career Series win, finishing the first weekend of the Heartland Grand Tour on a high note.

“At the start, we couldn’t get enough laps in to figure out where I needed to be on the racetrack,” Hoffman said. “I wasn’t very good the whole race, but once I got the middle lane running, I managed to get to Sorensen. It was just a matter of him making one mistake for me to get clear and control the pace from there.”

Battling for the Podium

Dustin Sorensen, who led early in the race, finished second and continues to lead the MD3 Rookie of the Year standings. Reflecting on his performance, Sorensen said, “We’re definitely getting better. It’s nice to know we’re still fast, and I’m excited to get back up north.”

Bobby Pierce, who finished third, faced several challenges throughout the night. “It was a tough race track, and the car wasn’t bad, but it couldn’t get the speed when it was that slick,” Pierce said. “Congrats to Nick on the win and Dustin for second.”

Top Performers

Max McLaughlin captured his first top-five finish of the season, continuing his progress with a new car and engine package. “It’s still so new to me,” McLaughlin said. “We’ve had really good speed in the slick, just gotta qualify better.”

Series points leader Brandon Sheppard rounded out the top five, keeping a firm grip on his lead in the standings.
